Abstract
Electrical and mechanical design of drive components must suit wiring practices based on recognized industry standards. Safety grounding, medium voltage cable termination, cable training, and electrical clearances are discussed using power plant fan installations in a particular power plant as a case study. The design shortcomings found during the installation of several large 4 kV drives and the corrective actions taken (including the revision of specifications for later drive projects) are explained
