Abstract
The goal of the Integrated Federal Telecommunications System (IFTS) is to provide voice, data, and video communications services which allow the federal workforce to perform its functions. The IFTS is a single system only in the sense that it should permit the federal worker to securely access any information resource necessary. In order to achieve this, connectivity, interoperability, and adequate security are required. Discussed are the four principal activities required to achieve this: standards, policy, development and acquisition, and operations
