  • Abstract
Entergy is in the process of installing SVCs at two of its major load centers. Extensive voltage stability assessment was performed to understand any operational problems and to determine the most efficient size and location of the SVCs. This paper presents planning and design aspects of one of the installations. As part of the planning consideration - problem, alternative solutions evaluated, selection of the most preferred option and other reactive power issues are covered. Additionally, as part of the design considerations SVC configuration, control strategy and some of the design issues, such as coordinated capacitor control, are discussed
