Abstract
In this paper we present a novel approach for calculating the probability of correct packet reception for Reed Solomon coded frequency hopped packet radio networks. Both deterministic and random frequency hopping patterns are considered. Joint probability generating functions of the effective multiple-access interference during a packet transmission time are determined for different cases. Closed form expressions for the packet capture probabilities are determined. We prove that the number of hits in different symbols of an arbitrary packet are asymptotically independent
