Abstract :
The UK Electricity Supply Regulations require the power system frequency to be maintained at 50 Hz ± 1% save in exceptional circumstances. The Transmission Licence places an obligation on the National Grid Company [NGC] to plan and operate the power system to ensure compliance with the Electricity Supply Regulations. The application of frequency response power reserve services in achieving such compliance is examined by the author
