Abstract :
As developers, Malaysians are faced with the need of valid taxonomy as the key reference of constructing a knowledge portal (k-portal) that particularly vital in classifying knowledge from the institutes of higher learning (IHL). The aim of this paper is to demonstrate results of a research conducted by appraising common practices of knowledge sharing. The research uses a combination of approaches. Initially, ranges of active IHL portals are compared and contrasted. And finally, a random survey on a set of academicians is conducted in order to acquire ingenuous feedback on respondents´ level of awareness and willingness in contributing to their institutional knowledge sharing endeavors. The research represents a common taxonomy, which considered as one that is relevant.
