Abstract :
This paper describes an automated system to perform radio frequency interference (RFI) analysis for the deployment of a broadband telecommunication services, ADSL-I. The system include engineering programs and a database of all the licensed transmitters in the US., within the 100-kHz to 500-kHz frequency range. Interfering signal levels at any specified location are first calculated. Analysis is then performed to predict the coupled voltage at the network interface of the customer premises. The total noise spectrum (from this voltage) is calculated and compared with the maximum tolerable noise for reliable performance. Areas where the noise spectrum exceeds the threshold value are defined as critical areas and indicated as shaded regions on a map. In future, the system will be upgraded to analyze RFI study at higher frequency ranges for ADSL-III and other broadband services and will include more capabilities for drawing field contours at frequencies of interest
