Abstract
An examination is made of how knowledge about communication among processes can be used to improve task scheduling on symmetric multiprocessors. Two series of experiments have also been conducted on a symmetric multiprocessor to quantify the performance of a knowledge-based scheduler. It is shown that overall system performance is improved with the new approach
