Abstract :
Developing product platform is considered as an effective way to cut costs in manufacture. A successful developed platform will bring big return to both sides of the customers and the manufacturers. And generally, the platform is defined as a set of sharing components. Therefore how to select the sharing components among the products is the key point for platform development. This article presents a methodology for analyzing the sensitivity and variability of the components and variables of the products in the product family under the constraints of tolerating performance losses. This methodology will enable to find out which components and variables are the common parts for sharing. In the result, the product platform will be built with these selected sharing parts.
