Abstract
The purpose of the study presented in this paper is to investigate the performance of an adaptive sectorization (AS) strategy for wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) cellular networks. It is considered that all sectors in a WCDMA network employ antenna arrays (AAs) able to form fixed or dynamic radiation patterns. A semi static simulator has been developed, executing Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Results indicate that the proposed AS strategy can achieve up to three times higher throughput per beam in a multirate cellular environment.
