Abstract
LISP and four procedural HLPLs (high-level programming languages) are evaluated in terms of their suitability, based on execution efficiency, for coding AI-related problems. The Micro-VAX II is the target machine for this evaluation. Ada and C were found to be suitable HLPLs for coding AI-related problems that are to be executed on conventional machines. It is noted that the solutions to execution-intensive AI-related problems must include the development of better algorithms and massively parallel architectures
