  • Abstract
Transdermal drug delivery is a technology that allows a drug to diffuse through skin to reach systemic circulation. Electret is a novel physical enhancer by regulating the electret states of the skin with its external electrostatic field and microcurrent to enhance the drug transdermal delivery. In this study, we applied negative polypropylene (PP) electrets of different surface potentials to fresh skin, dried skin and stratum corneum (SC) stripped skin. The surface potential which had penetrated through the skin was determined to study its decay behaviour. The penetration depth, stability and influence in skin electret state of the external electrostatic field of the electret were also studied.
