  • Abstract
B-ISDN offers the capabilities needed for multiparty, multimedia telecommunication services. This paper describes a possible basis for a resource control protocol. A protocol consists of a mechanism for information exchange and a format for the information itself. Our proposal uses atomic actions as the information exchange mechanism and defines a possible information structure. This representation, the telecommunication configuration, is the `data´ in the atomic action. Implementing telecommunication configurations is a difficult problem if the algorithm has to cover all cases. This paper shows how artificial intelligence concepts can be used to simplify the problem. The techniques used are illustrated by the output of a prolog program
