Abstract
This paper describes how much the multi-level-synthesis method (MULES method) decreases computer operating time for generating the prime implicants of logic function in comparison with the improved-consensus-expansion method (IONEX method). This MULES method uses the procedures of subdividing the original function into the several functions and synthesizing them repeatedly until the original function is obtained. These two methods are compared by running the two correspondent C language programs on the Sparc-I computer. As a result, the MULES method is superior to the IONEX method. The former requires one fifth of computer operating time required by the latter
