Abstract :
A new non-intrusive method is developed for measuring fluid temperature in a piping system, based on the flux augmented surface temperature (FAST) method. Two integrated sensors, which are mounted on the outer wall of a pipe, measure 4 temperatures simultaneously every half-second. A PC-based intelligent instrumentation system converts them to a fluid temperature. Accuracy of the fluid temperature measurement is comparable to or better than that from a thermometer in a thermowell
