Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel algorithm for optimization of automatic stereoscopic camera parameters based on 3D cinematography principles that control disparity range, as well as the stereo window violation (SWV) and temporal continuity of the disparity (TCD). By following these principles, the user can input the arbitrary range of the disparity and assign the ratios of the disparity adjusting function in the proposed automatic optimizing algorithm. The system evaluates the disparity using the depth map of the scene and 3D cinematography principles automatically and outputs the inter-axial and convergence for stereoscopic camera control. The experimental results, including a user study, show that the proposed algorithm enhances the 3D effect. This algorithm provides stereoscopic camera parameters that can be helpful in creating comfortable and faster stereoscopic films.
