  • Abstract
    We propose an architecture of FL-net over Ethernet for a networked control system. FL-net over Ethernet is ease of broadcast which makes nodes exchange information easily and precisely. The proposed timed token passes among control units and determines which control unit has the data transmission right. Due to the token is unique in FL-net, only one control unit can send packets at time. This makes data transmission delay deterministic and bounded. The accuracy of data transmission is another critical issue in a networked control system. Accuracy of data transmission in FL-net over Ethernet depends on the token and control unit faults. We derive the performance evaluation of FL-net over Ethernet with or without control unit faults. We use NS2 to simulate performance of FL-net with or without control unit faults. Results indicate the comparison between performance of deterministic data transmission and the performance degradation of control unit faults in queueing delay, delay variance, and throughput.
