Abstract :
Charge accumulation in polar dielectrics irradiated with charged particles is accompanied by formation of the slow component of the persistent polarization Ps which escapes registration by routine measurements of the permittivity ∈. Some ceramics and glasses with ∈<10 feature extremely high P s on the order of 10-7 C/cm2. The present analysis is based on a two-layer dielectric with a constant conductivity of the irradiated region while Ps is described by the Debye model. The appearance of the Ps substantially affects the build-up rate of the space charge in a dielectric
