Abstract :
IC ´s of ever larger complexity are realized giving birth to what has been called Systems on a Chip. Today chips with in the order of 100M transistors can be realized in the new deep sub-micron (90 nm design rules) process technologies. The paper will focus on the design complexity of such chips, and in particular how, through generations of re-use technology, the efficiency of these design methods has kept pace with Moore´s law. Most attention will be given to the newest of these methods, platform based design.
