Abstract :
In Australia, electronic data interchange (EDI) really started to emerge as a potential technology in the early 1990s and is gradually taking hold, perhaps not as fast as it should. Some of the significant barriers include the number of value added network providers and the lack of interconnection between them. Some of these providers have managed to capture certain market segments. The case study in this paper end presents one EDI provider that has cornered the educational sector and discusses the implementation of EDI in the first Australian university to participate in the government´s electronic trading program
