Abstract
The relevant microwave and radio frequency (MW/RF) radiation biological effects are reviewed. Thermal and non-thermal effects due to electromagnetic field absorption in body tissues are considered. Numerical simulation and available guidelines for safety levels are discussed. The scenario in Brazil is briefly described, particularly regarding cellular base station measurements and simulation of the interaction of a handheld phone with a human head
