Abstract :
A prototype programmable digital radio (PDR) has been built for airborne and surface-based applications. Two common RF/digital plug-in modules, one for transmit and one for receive, form the heart of the transceiver. Each transceiver module covers the frequency spectrum from HF (1.5 MHz) thru L-Band (2 GHz) and includes a programmable signal preprocessor/processor allowing a complete radio function thread (receive or transmit) to be implemented on a card. This paper describes the functions currently demonstrated and those in development. Applicability of the PDR to secure Combat ID, Anti-Jam LPI, and compressed video is also addressed
