Abstract :
In this paper the windowed selected moving autocorrelation (WSMA) and the tri-correlation (TriC) are reviewed first. The multi-correlation (MuIC) is discussed. Then these algorithms are used for indirect sensing of engine misfire. Very often, computation resource limitation exists for real-time applications such as engine controller. The WSMA and TriC offer more opportunities for indirect sensing for engine misfires and other real-time monitoring and feedback control applications in the frequency domain due to their high efficiencies. Simulation and vehicle test results for engine misfire sensing are presented in this paper
