Abstract :
Electrical energy converters influence the power quality of the power system. In this paper, the required behaviour of such converters to improve the local power quality is investigated. The analysis presented considers the influence of the load on the voltage distortion and the power system impedance at the point of common coupling (PCC), and on the line current injected into the power system when background distortion is present. The presented concept is illustrated with comprehensive examples, and is also applied to a generic power system, for which the required load behaviour is developed.
