Abstract :
Facing the challenges of tremendous increasing of traffic requirement, ultra high speed optical transmissions at or beyond 100 Gb/s per channel transmissions is needed. We numerically study the performance of the no-guard-interval orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (NGI-OFDM) employing polarization division multiplexing (PDM) and coherent optical detection. Transmissions performance of single channel 200 Gb/s with 2 carriers is simulated under the influence of residual dispersion, without or without digital carrier separation. It is found that the performance of NGI-OFDM might worsen seriously under the uncompensated chromatic dispersion, which breaks the orthogonal condition between the carriers.
