Abstract
Academic staff at research-intensive universities have played a strategic role in fostering talents needed by the country and improvement of the core competitiveness of the university. Therefore, it is extremely crucial to build a team of excellent academic staff while continuing to improve their professional capacity and their competiveness in the global market. The construction of a fair and efficient performance appraisal and management system and an incentive teaching and research environment at the universities are of both necessity and practical value. The paper presents the process for performance management via the integration of the sophisticated theories both at home and abroad. An analysis and design model has been proposed for the performance management information system in a digital campus. An example has been presented at the School of Economics and Management, Beihang University to illustrate the implementation of the model. The research findings are of both practical and theoretical value and are expected to be applicable to both research-intensive universities and other universities.
