Abstract
The aim of this paper is to exhibit the constituents and implementation of a lab-scale single-phase TCSC, and to display the results of tests conducted to verify its performance. Least square identification is carried out in order to estimate the corresponding inductance and resistance of a constructed air core winding. Comparison is made between simulation and steady state measurements; the transient behavior of the device is also shown. An easy procedure to determine the resistance and capacitance parameters of a snubber circuit is employed and practical results are presented.
