Title :
Industrial experiences with FPGA teaching
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
If FPGAs have unique characteristics which may provide benefits in those applications which meet specific constraints, why then should employers not be interested in having students understand the details? The reason is that in teaching the details of FPGAs and many other advanced but niche technologies, some of the crucial fundamentals are being squeezed out of core course content. It is this omission of the basics, and the lack of understanding of the whole design picture, which is the key issue facing digital design teaching today
