Abstract
An alternative approach to designing operational amplifiers is presented that focuses on identifying a minimal design parameter space that emphasizes relevant design parameters rather than natural design parameters. It is shown that considerable simplification of some of the key performance parameters can be obtained with an alternative design parameter space while still maintaining the same mathematical models for the amplifier. This simplification provides additional insight into the operation of the amplifier and makes performance optimization more manageable. Design examples are presented which demonstrate how the simplified parameter equations can be utilized to efficiently design amplifiers that satisfy certain performance specifications
