Abstract
The problem of designing elliptic filters with maximum band-edge selectivity is addressed. First, a derivation of the band-edge selectivity with respect to the n-th order elliptic function is summarized. We next consider the improvement of the band-edge selectivity without increasing filter order by means of a numerical technique. The impact of increased selectivity on other filter responses is also studied. A design example is submitted and reviewed, showing the effectiveness of the proposed methods
