Abstract :
DoD migration to Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) enriches warfighter information access and, in so doing, intensifies the need for related real-time applications distributed across large geographic areas with highly mobile users and sensors. Such applications require exchange of critical, time-sensitive data among local as well as distant users across resource constrained networks, and as such are not themselves well suited to SOA. This paper explores an approach for supporting them that can synergize with the SOA environment while providing efficient real-time delivery of critical data across multiple, internetworked bearer systems with widely varying characteristics.
