Abstract :
The photoelectrical properties of new derivatives of poly(methylphenylsilylene) with nitro substituted π-conjugated pendant groups were studied. The transport of charge carriers was found to be dispersive. The chromophore groups form trapping centers and slightly decrease the charge carrier mobility. On the other hand, a strong increase of the quantum generation efficiency was observed. It is concluded that the new derivatives of poly(methylphenylsilylene) with a large π-electron system containing acceptor nitro groups seem to be suitable photoelectric sensitive materials. They possess a high photogeneration efficiency, a quite high charge carrier mobility, sensitivity extended up to the visible region, an improved stability against UV irradiation and good optical and mechanical properties
