Abstract
The analysis of frequency selective surfaces (FSS) using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) technique is reviewed. Results are presented for FDTD predictions and measurements using a Gaussian beam measurement system for both tri-slot and ring FSS flat plate samples. Some practical considerations affecting radome applications are discussed, including Floquet modes, thick dielectric supports (single-sided vs. sandwiched), slot fillings and surface waves. Other computational methods are outlined and some conclusions drawn regarding optimal methods for FSS analysis
