Abstract
As a new development in information technology, multi-agent technique can help to respond to the growing interest in making traffic and transportation more efficient, resource saving and ecological. This paper gives an overview of a diverse range of applications where multi-agent systems promise to create a great impact in ITS domain. Furthermore, further investigation directions and their feasibility and prospect are discussed.
