Abstract :
A multicolor red/green/yellow thin-film electroluminescent (TFEL) display with patterned phosphors and TAB (tape automated bonding)-mounted drivers was developed and demonstrated. Filtered ZnS:Mn was shown to be a viable technique to achieve a bright red color with excellent chromaticity. By combining atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) and sputter and evaporation thin-film deposition techniques, a display with performance suitable for near-term pilot production was achieved.<>
