Author_Institution :

Abstract :
“Stick charts” once used to familiarize indigenous sailors with the currents and swells encountered during voyages through the lagoons of the Marshall Islands are excellent examples of the visual communication of complex information. Discussion of and exercises with these “stick charts” within a technical communication class promote understanding of many aspects of visual rhetoric.
