Abstract :
The authors have succeeded in improving the luminance levels of the blue SrS:Ce,K and white SrS:Ce,K,Eu TFEL (thin-film electroluminescent) devices by post-deposition annealing in an Ar-S atmosphere. It has been shown that the increase in the luminance and efficiency results from the improvement of the crystallinity of the thin films. The luminance level achieved for white TFEL reached the goal of realizing a monochrome white TFEL display. The SrS TFEL device showed a luminance of 900 cd/m/sup 2/ and an efficiency of 0.44 lm/W at 1 kHz drive.<>
