Abstract :
The authors have developed an HD (high-definition) front projector using 1.38-Mpixel poly-Si TFT (thin-film transistor) LCLVs (liquid crystal light valves) that have the smallest size and the highest density of pixel of transmission types. The diagonal size of the projected image can be changed from 40 to 120-in by a zoom lens. The main optical system includes dichroic prisms in the color composition system in order to reduce asymmetric aberrations and a bias technique in which the image is projected above the horizontal level of the projector. As a result, 950 vertical TV line resolution has been achieved by adopting motion adaptive scanning line interpolation for realizing the performance of poly-Si TFT LCLVs, and the image-sticking of the motion picture has been reduced.<>
