Abstract
This paper develops a simplified analytical SRM flux model, which can be used where model accuracy can be traded for speed of computation. The magnetization curve is modeled by two piecewise linear curves. The piecewise analytical formula for flux linkage and instantaneous torque are obtained using the basic electromagnetic theories. Because of the mathematical simplicity, the model provides rapid computation for a real time controller or state estimator. This simplified model doesn´t need any experimental parameters from the motor. It only needs the geometrical dimensions and magnetic parameters of the iron. The paper compares the results from the simplified SRM model with the results from a detailed analytical model, and shows the simulation results for a system that uses the simplified model in rotor position state estimator
