Abstract
The 4th Generation of Wireless Networks (4G) is likely to work in an integrated and unified environment, where different technologies must coexists and cooperate to enhance the service provided to the end-user. Two of the biggest 4G mobile broadband technologies are WiMAX and LTE. The research community has already presented many cases in which integration has been proposed and tested between WiFi and either WiMAX or LTE, but there are no integration attempts with unified solutions between WiMAX and LTE. In this paper, we have simulated an integrated environment with these two networks exchanging three kinds of traffic and testing the performance with the current QoS definition of each technology.
