Abstract :
Software reuse has not been widely embraced by the computing industry. We suggest that a major reason behind this lack of acceptance is the prevailing project culture. We describe how a conducive environment has been set up to change this paradigm. We describe with examples how computing students are introduced to the object-oriented paradigm, and then shown how to look for and build reusable components. We find that most students are able to shift to the object-oriented paradigm and build reusable code. However we also find that some students still cling to the project paradigm and consequently are not able to see the reuse opportunities available
