Abstract :
To investigate experimentally the dynamics of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL), in both space and time, we have extended the capability of ultrafast optical sampling technique. Experimental observations were made of the spatial-temporal dynamics of the VSCEL, showing mode-beating, nonlinear mode instabilities and rotation of intensity maximum.
