Abstract :
EPSS is an Electronic Performance Support System that provides its users with on-demand access to information for the purpose of job performance improvement. We propose a framework for development of a "content-independent EPSS" on the Web, called WebAttendant. This EPSS service is built independent of Web content, in contrast to "built-in EPSS" built as part of the Web content. WebAttendant tracks and analyzes a user\´s Web operation behavior, and gives him individual instructions, according to a set of rules, in the form of helpful interventions. Since WebAttendant develops a content-independent EPSS, it can manage each process independent of the Web site, and the EPSS service can be re-used or added to the existing Web content without changing the content itself. We have conduct experiments to verify the efficacy of WebAttendant\´s EPSS service. Experiments show that WebAttendant is highly effective as a platform for content-independent EPSS on the Web
