  • Abstract
The author outlines a project specification whose goal was to provide the integration of machine control and process control for the rubber compounding process. Automation objectives of product quality improvement, maintenance of consistent quality, improvements of production rate and information management, and the adoption of a standard system solution are discussed. The equipment and system architecture used as well as the unit, batch, and recipe management issues are reported.<>
