            Abstract :
The space charge effect in the presence of sextupole resonance was studied using the lattice of the SSC (Superconducting Super Collider) low-energy booster. The multiparticle tracking was performed with a self-consistent charge distribution. When there are synchrotron oscillations, a slight emittance growth is observed, which differs from the result of nonself-consistent tracking. However, this growth cannot be caused by repeated crossing of resonances due to a sectupole field in dipoles. the tracking result has shown that the emittance dilution of the whole beam should be considered instead of the amplitude growth of some particular particles
