Abstract
In mobile ad hoc networks, routing protocol area is a challenging issue. In spite of recent research, MANETs lack load balancing capabilities, and thus, they fail to provide expected performance especially in the case of a large volume of traffic such as real time traffic. In this paper, we propose a simple but very efficient algorithm to support Quality of Service (QoS), by the use of load-distributing and congestion avoidance routing method. Initially we classify the traffic flows as real time traffic and normal traffic depending on their priority. The proposed load distribution based QoS routing algorithm intended for a variety of traffic classes to establish the best routing paths. The proposed algorithm calculates the cost metric on the basis of the load on the links. The routing of high priority traffic is performed over the lightly loaded links, in such a manner that the links with lighter loads are chosen instead of links with heavier-loads. In the absence of real time traffic, the lesser loaded path can be utilized by normal traffic.
