Abstract :
This research aimed at examining the effects of attachment style and Narrative Identities on the ability of recognizing emotions from acoustic stimuli. To this aim, 82 female students aged between 19 and 29 years were recruited at the Second University of Naples (Italy) and underwent an emotional-voice-decoding task after being tested through the Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR) and Personality Meaning (PMQ) Questionnaire to assess their attachment styles and Narrative Identities. The study sheds light on issues affecting the emotion-recognition process, suggesting deeper investigations on personality types. Implications are discussed on the role played by the Attachment style and Narrative Identities in defining the emotional “voices” decoding accuracy.
