Abstract :
Describes the development of two traffic control and surveillance systems (TCSS) in Malaysia, ELITE on the Central Link Expressway and LINKEDUA on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing. They will provide the technology transfer platform to enhance a greater working knowledge of TCSS in Malaysia. All road networks have their own unique characteristics and their control must be part of the indigenous expressway network growth. The systems must be carefully evaluated and their effectiveness measured. The acceptance of these systems by the ultimate users, the drivers for whose safety and benefit they have been installed, is the factor that will most strongly influence the development of future functionality.
