Abstract :
Summary form only given as follows. Indian Automobile Industry is passing through a phase of rapid transition. Technology transfer is taking place from leading automobile manufacturing countries in the world. A case study of Hero Honda Motors Limited (HHML) has been presented covering major strategic technology management issues with special focus on technology transfer arrangement, subsequent absorption, and innovations made in product and process technologies by local technologists. The case study presented here is a part of an empirical study being carried out in Indian automobile industry to assess the technology management practices in the firms of developing countries in general and in India in particular. The article also proposes a framework for designing technology strategy for a firm in a developing country
