Abstract :
A solution to the standard H2 control problem for systems that give rise to real-rational (not necessarily proper) transfer functions is presented. Some linear descriptor systems belong to this class. The solution is based on a factorization approach and leads to linear diophantine equations. Although no proofs are given, the new results are analyzed and related to the existing ones
